"The 2012 Barrile is unlike any other red wine I have tasted from Sardinia this year. The blend of grapes consists of such unknown varieties as Nieddera and Caddiu. The wine is packaged in an attractive, decorative bottle with a thread of dried hay strapped around the neck. The contents of the bottle show raw and chewy berry favors with loads of tobacco, dried prune, cured meat and beef jerky on the finish. These heavier aromas are presented with moderation for an nice overall ensemble." Robert Parker
"Opaque ruby-red. Sweetly spicy aromas and flavors of candied black and red fruits, raisin and mocha. Enters the mouth lush and creamy, offering serious power and weight in the middle, then develops a porty, air-dried-fruit quality on the back. Finishes suave and very long, with a hint of alcoholic warmth and a hint of cherry preserves. This big, dense wine is a polar opposite to Contini’s much brighter, fresher 2012 Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva ‘Inu, but each wine will have its fans." Ian d'Agata
