The Primo Malbec from Sicily hails from a small 2.4-hectare plot nestled in the heart of the Gazzerotta estate. It's a contemporary, fresh, and pleasant vintage wine, yet characterized by a strong identity.
Origin: Tenuta Gazzerotta, Mazara del Vallo - Province of Trapani
Terroir: The soil is characterized by a clayey, partly sandy matrix, rich in minerals and with excellent water retention. Elevation: 20 meters above sea level. Climate: The area faces water stress due to its distance from the sea, although mitigated by the soil's natural water retention.
Vinification and Aging: Grapes are harvested from the second week of September. Lengthy maceration at controlled temperature until complete alcoholic fermentation. Aging for 6 months in stainless steel tanks. Static clarification with subsequent bottling without filtration to enhance taste and aroma characteristics.
Tasting Notes: Color: Lively red. Aroma: Pronounced notes of red fruits and violets blend with pleasant balsamic and spicy nuances. Taste: Very soft, well-structured, balanced, and persistent, with a refreshing touch.
Recommendation: Ideal with a mushroom and truffle risotto or roast pork. Also surprises in informal settings, paired with boards of aged cheeses. Serve at 18°-19°C.
