The Iselis Bianco Nasco di Cagliari DOC by Argiolas is a modern dry wine crafted from an ancient grape variety that was once brought to Sardinia by Phoenician sailors.
This wine shines in the glass with its straw-yellow hue, captivating the senses with aromas of yellow flowers, fruits, broom, and melons. On the palate, it impresses with finesse, generosity, and an inviting texture. Its freshness and smoothness leave a lasting impression, while delicate hints of marzipan and almond notes emerge in the long finish.
The grapes for this Sardinian white wine thrive in the Iselis vineyard, nestled among olive trees, a saline inland lake, and a picturesque countryside church in Serdiana, in the hinterland of the Gulf of Cagliari in the south of the island.
Despite the Nasco grape variety typically being used for sweet wines, Argiolas has opted for a dry style. This involves an earlier harvest, with 85% Nasco and 15% Vermentino co-fermented. After gentle pressing and natural clarification, the wine ages for 60 days on fine lees, with a small portion maturing in French oak barrels. Bottle aging further refines and harmonizes the wine.
This refined and flavorful white wine from Sardinia pairs exceptionally well with typical island dishes, whether from the land or the sea. It is an ideal match for seafood appetizers, artichoke risotto, pasta with clams, fish, poultry, or semi-mature cheeses. Every sip brings the taste of Sardinia to life.
